David Kurek, Pastor/Teacher

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Pastor David left the state to attend Southwestern Bible College in Phoenix, Arizona where he graduated with a B.A. in Bible Exposition.  He received further training at Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas, where he graduated with a Th.M. in Bible Exposition.    After serving as senior pastor in 2 locations in Arizona, David returned to his home state in 1998 to pastor the Evangelical Free Church of Wisconsin Rapids.

David met and married Jean while they were both attending Bible College.  They have 3 children and 5 grandchild.  They enjoy kayaking together in the summer and snowshoeing in the winter.  Jean is gifted in the areas of teaching and music.

Anytime you want to go fishing, just give David a call.  He also enjoys playing tennis and watching the Brewers baseball games.

One of David’s passions is seeing men and women develop to become everything their heavenly Father intends them to be.   He believes it is important for the pastor/teacher to equip the saints to share in the total ministry of the church (Ephesians 4:11-16) as an expression of their love for Christ.  One of the focuses of his ministry is strong Bible exposition—a relevant preaching/teaching ministry.  His desire is to glorify God by making disciples who make disciples; i.e, helping people to know Christ and grow in Christ so they can influence others for Christ (2 Timothy 2:2).

Kym Struck, Minister of Christian Education and Youth

Kym has been on staff since 2002.  He is a graduate of Moody Bible Institute with a BA in Youth Ministry.  It was at Moody that he met his wife Nikko. Since then, they’ve ministered as a couple to kids and teens in their hometown of Madison and now in Wisconsin Rapids.

Kym has a heartfelt desire to help youth develop a lifelong, growing relationship with Jesus Christ. He wants them to be able to answer the questions: “What do I believe?” “Why do I believe it?” and “How do I accurately share my faith with others?”

Among Kym’s interests are Japanese anime and Manga; using his interest and experience in culinary arts for ministry events; playing guitar and drums in worship; riding his bright yellow Cannondale to and from the office; playing Nintendo and teaching martial arts.
